Reiki and Reiki Drum Technique

Natural hands on healing has been used for thousands of years as part of traditional medicine and has been recorded in many early texts.   This type of healing and the stories around it tell of miraculous healing of the sick, regaining sight in the blind and bringing those on the brink of death back to life.   In the mid 1800s Reiki a Japanese natural healing system was rediscovered and developed by Dr Mikao Usui after years of meditation and study of scripture and ancient texts.   The word Reiki is broken into Rei ‘universal life’ and ki ‘energy.  Reiki energy is channelled by and through the practitioner during the treatment to the client in order to allow the universal life force energy to work into the client's body and energy field where it is most needed.  This is done intelligently and intuitively by the recipient of the Reiki without any effort or direction by either party.

What happens in a reiki treatment?

During your Reiki session you will lie on a comfortable massage table an covered with a soft blanket and your eyes will be closed.   There will be relaxation music playing gently in the background.   I will stand and work over the energy centres of your body (some hands on, some close to the body but not touching) channelling the Reiki energy.  You may notice various sensations in your body during the treatment, or you may notice nothing at all, but at the end of the treatment you will feel very relaxed and peaceful.

reiki drumming technique

Reiki Drum combines the essential beauty of and subtle power of Reiki energy with the sacred essence of shamanic drumming.  The use of drums has featured for centuries in rituals of many cultures for meditation, healing and celebrating.  Research is showing the power of drumming for healing a range of medical and mental health conditions.   In his paper 'The Healing Power of the Drum' Robert Lawrence Friedman psychotherapist and drum facilitator  looks at the effect that drumming has on particular groups of people affected by Alzhiemer's, post traumatic stress disorder, sufferers of anger and pent up negativity, at risk adolescents and executives suffering from stress. He found that using the drum allowed for relaxation and the release of tension, creation of energy in the tired, release of anger and pent up emotions, feelings of euphoria, anger release and feelings of connection.

The power of Integrating the drum with Reiki brings about deep relaxation, release of bodily tension & reconnection with optimal energetic vibration.   Combining these techniques also promotes deep emotional healing, letting go of deep physical pain and tension and the potential for mental and emotional reprogramming of old destructive patterns of behaviour.

what happens in a reiki drum technique session

During your Reiki Drum session you will lie on a comfortable massage table an covered with a soft blanket and your eyes will be closed.   We will work with the drum for journeying, healing or mental and emotional programming.   Depending on the chosen method of drum work for the session there will be a set pattern of drumming employed which will last for between 20 and 40 minutes.   After the drumming time I will stand and work over the energy centres of your body (some hands on, some close to the body but not touching) channelling the Reiki energy.  You may notice various sensations in your body during the treatment, or you may notice nothing at all, but at the end of the treatment you will feel very relaxed and peaceful.

Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you - all of the expectations, all of the beliefs and BECOMING WHO YOU ARE
